As you say, it's an enjoyable film without a great deal wrong with it, but it still could have been a great deal better.JayCluitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16972011198109066985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7072729371563273515.post-75048888395418647672013-03-29T15:29:14.275+00:002013-03-29T15:29:14.275+00:00I'm pretty much with you on this one, Jay. I liked it overall but wasn't as enthralled as I've been by Hitchcock's latter films in a similar mold.Dan Heatonhttp://ptsnob.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7072729371563273515.post-34695357037816484892013-03-29T14:43:34.423+00:002013-03-29T14:43:34.423+00:00I agree that North By Northwest should have been, ...I agree that North By Northwest should have been, and is, better than The 39 Steps, I just wanted Steps to be better than it was in comparison. I've got Steps on DVD, and I'll definitely revisit it, at which point my opinion of it will probably improve.JayCluitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16972011198109066985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7072729371563273515.post-65544948110512042752013-03-29T06:19:57.912+00:002013-03-29T06:19:57.912+00:00Actually I think it would have been more disappoin...Actually I think it would have been more disappointing if North by Northwest was poorer than The 39 Steps. I would expect Hitchcock to improve over such a span of years. Compare it to his contemporary stuff this is really gold.
Nice one with Taggart. That should satisfy anybody's need to hear "murder" pronounced in Scottish dialect.
TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.com
